Competitor terms
Terms & Policies
Pacific Northwest Kendama Open 2027 · Sat, Mar 13, 2027 · Tacoma, WA
By registering as a competitor or attending Pacific Northwest Kendama Open 2027, you agree to these terms. Parents and guardians registering minor competitors agree on their behalf. They cover refunds, assumption of risk, photo release, conduct, and minors.
1. Refund & Cancellation Policy
Registration fees are non-refundable once payment is confirmed, except:
- Medical emergency: if a documented medical emergency keeps you from competing, email contest@example.org before the contest. We'll consider a full or partial refund.
- Duplicate payment: if you're charged twice by mistake, the duplicate charge is refunded in full.
- Division cancelled: if we cancel a division and can't move you to another, that division's fee is refunded in full.
Other reasons, like schedule conflicts or travel problems, aren't eligible. Fees pay for the venue, equipment, and awards ahead of time.
Registration is personal and can't be transferred to another competitor. To request a refund, email contest@example.org with the subject "Refund Request" as early as you can.
2. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
Kendama and skill toy activities carry risks, including contact with equipment, unexpected movement of other participants, and falls. By competing or attending, you accept those risks.
Cascade Kendama Club, its volunteers, and the venue are not liable for injury, loss, theft, or property damage connected with the contest, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Competitors are responsible for keeping their equipment safe and in working order. Organizers may stop any equipment or performance that puts others at risk.
For minors: a parent or legal guardian must acknowledge this waiver at check-in. Minors can't compete without it.
3. Photo & Video Release
Pacific Northwest Kendama Open is a public event. It will be photographed, recorded, and may be livestreamed by organizers, media, sponsors, and attendees.
By competing or attending, you consent to being photographed and recorded, and you give Cascade Kendama Club a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use those images for contest records, promotion of future events, and club communications. No payment is provided.
Stage freestyles are recorded for judging and may be shared publicly as part of the contest archive.
Don't want to be photographed? Tell an organizer at check-in. We'll make reasonable efforts, but we can't guarantee you won't appear in photos of a public event.
4. Code of Conduct
Everyone at the contest, including competitors, spectators, volunteers, and staff, is expected to:
- Treat others with respect, whatever their age, skill level, background, or identity.
- Never harass, intimidate, discriminate against, or threaten anyone.
- Compete with integrity. Don't interfere with other competitors' performances or equipment.
- Follow instructions from contest staff and venue staff.
- Keep the competition area and venue clean and safe.
- Clear the stage and warm-up space when staff ask.
Breaking this code can mean disqualification, removal from the venue, or a ban from future events. The contest director's decisions are final. To report a problem, talk to any staff member or email contest@example.org.
5. Minor Participant Policy
Competitors and spectators of all ages are welcome. For anyone under 18:
- Registration: a parent or legal guardian must register the competitor and agrees to these terms on their behalf.
- Waiver: a parent or guardian must be present at check-in, or have sent written acknowledgment of the waiver, before the minor competes.
- Supervision: minors watching the contest should come with a parent or guardian. Organizers aren't responsible for unaccompanied minors.
- Names and photos: results for minors are shown as first name and last initial unless a parent opts in to full names. Parents can ask staff at check-in to limit their child's appearance in event media.
6. Event Cancellation
If the contest is cancelled entirely for reasons beyond our control, like severe weather, venue closure, or a public health emergency, competitors get a full refund within 30 days of the announcement.
If the contest changes significantly but still happens (fewer divisions, a new venue), we'll tell competitors as early as possible and work with each person case by case.
