General
What is Cascade Kendama Club?
Cascade Kendama Club is a kendama club for Tacoma, WA. We bring together players of all ages, from first-timers to contest players. Beginners, families, and competitors are all welcome.
Is there a membership fee?
Sessions are free.
Do I have to compete?
Not at all. Most people come to play, learn tricks, and have fun. Competing is up to you.
Meetups
When and where do you meet?
Every other Saturday, 11 AM – 1 PM. We meet at Eastside Rec Center, 300 E Park Way, Tacoma WA. Come and go anytime during the meetup.
Do I need to RSVP?
No. Just show up. If a meetup is ever cancelled, we post it on this site and our social media as early as we can.
What should I bring?
Nothing. We have loaner kendamas at every session, so you don't need to bring anything. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
Can kids come?
Yes! All ages are welcome. Younger kids should come with a parent or guardian, especially the first time.
Getting Started
Do I need to know how to play?
No. Total beginners are just as welcome as experienced players. We'll teach you your first cup.
What kendama should I buy?
Ask at a session! Try a few loaners first, and our members can recommend one for your budget.
Is kendama loud?
A little. Wooden tamas clack on the cups. We keep play in our space and keep it friendly for the venue.
Getting Involved
How do I become a member?
Just come to a meetup. There's no sign-up. If you show up, you're part of the club.
Can I volunteer?
Yes, please. Email hello@example.org or talk to us at a meetup. We always need help setting up, greeting newcomers, and running activities.
Can my organization partner with the club?
Yes. We're open to venue partnerships, demos, workshops, and sponsorships. Email hello@example.org with your idea.
