About us
More Than a Yo-Yo Club
The Mid-Atlantic's home for yo-yo enthusiasts, kendama players, and all skill toy fans in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland.
DMV Throwers is the yo-yo and skill toy community for DC · MD · VA. Yo-yos, kendama, spin tops, diabolo, juggling: if it takes practice and it's fun, it's welcome here. Beginners, families, and competitors are all welcome.
Never touched a kendama? Grinding a contest routine? This is your crew. We bring loaner yo-yos and other skill toys to every meetup, so you don't need to bring anything. Someone will always help you land your first trick.

Our Story
DMV Throwers started in 2021 with meetups at Quincy Park in Arlington, then moved next door into Arlington Central Library.
In 2026 the club organized the 16th Virginia State Yo-Yo Contest at Dulles Town Center in Sterling, VA.
What We Do
Try Everything
Pick up a yo-yo, a kendama, or a spin top. Swap toys and find the one that clicks.
Learn
Experienced players love to teach. Ask for help with any trick.
Play
Jam sessions, trick battles, and games anyone can join.
Share
Swap tips, try other people's gear, and learn how to care for your toys.
Keeping Meetups Safe
- Kids are welcome. Younger kids need a parent or guardian with them. A parent or guardian is responsible for their own child at every meetup.
- Club volunteers never take kids anywhere away from the group or the meetup space.
- Give each player room. Check behind you before a big trick, and keep looping, offstring, diabolo tosses, and flow arts in open space.
- Check your gear before you play. Worn yo-yo strings and frayed kendama strings can snap.
