More Than a Yo-Yo Club
A free yo-yo club for Springfield and central Illinois. Learn your first trick, practice for a contest, or just hang out with other throwers.
Springfield Throwers is a yo-yo community for Springfield, IL. We meet up to learn tricks, trade tips, and hang out with people who love to throw. Beginners, families, and competitors are all welcome.
Never touched a yo-yo? Grinding competition routines? This is your crew. We have loaner yo-yos at every meetup, so you don't need to bring anything. Someone will always help you with your first trick.

Our Story
We started in 2025 when a few throwers kept running into each other at the park. Now we meet every month at the library.
What We Do
Learn
Never thrown before? Someone will teach you your first trick. Stuck on a hard one? Someone's done it.
Play
Jam sessions, trick battles, and games anyone can join. No experience needed.
Compete
Getting ready for a contest? Practice your freestyle in front of friendly faces. Or never compete. Up to you.
Share
Try other people's yo-yos, swap string, and learn how to clean and tune your gear.
Keeping Meetups Safe
- Kids are welcome. Younger kids need a parent or guardian with them. A parent or guardian is responsible for their own child at every meetup.
- Club volunteers never take kids anywhere away from the group or the meetup space.
- Give each thrower room. Check behind you before a big trick, and keep looping and offstring play in open space.
- Check your string before you throw. A worn string can snap and send a yo-yo flying.
