Learn Spin Tops
A throw top is wound with string and thrown so it spins on its tip. Here's how to start. Then come to a meetup and we'll help in person.
Start Here
Pick a Starter
A wide, low top with a rounded tip is the most forgiving. Starter tops usually come with a string.
Wind It Tight
Start the string at the tip and wind it up the body, tight and even. A neat wind matters more than a hard throw.
Throw and Snap
Throw toward the floor in front of you and pull your hand back as the string runs out, so the top lands upright.
Find a Hard Floor
Wood, tile, and concrete work. Carpet and grass stop most tops. Once it spins, try scooping it onto your palm.
