Competitor withdrawals: Registration fees ($15–$25 per division) are non-refundable once payment has been confirmed, except in the following circumstances:
- Medical emergency: If you are unable to compete due to a documented medical emergency, contact us at vastateyoyocontest@gmail.com before the event and we will consider a full or partial refund at our discretion.
- Duplicate payment: If you are charged more than once due to a processing error, you will receive a full refund for the duplicate charge.
- Division cancellation: If a division is cancelled by the organizers and you cannot be transferred to another, your fee for that division will be refunded in full.
All other withdrawal requests — including scheduling conflicts, travel issues, and changed circumstances — are not eligible for refunds. Registration fees support venue, equipment, awards, and event costs incurred in advance of the contest.
Transfer policy: Registration is personal and non-transferable. You may not transfer your registration slot to another competitor.
To request a refund under an eligible circumstance, email vastateyoyocontest@gmail.com with the subject line "Refund Request — VSYC-26" as early as possible before September 19, 2026.
2. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
By participating in VSYC-26 as a competitor or attendee, you acknowledge and accept that yo-yo and skill toy activities carry inherent risks including but not limited to contact with equipment, unexpected movement of participants, and falls. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation.
DMV Throwers Yo-Yo & Skill Toy Club, its officers, volunteers, and the venue (Dulles Town Center) are not liable for any injury, loss, theft, or damage to property that occurs in connection with VSYC-26, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
Competitors are responsible for ensuring their equipment is in safe, working condition. The organizers reserve the right to remove from competition any equipment or performance that poses a safety risk to participants, judges, or spectators.
For minor competitors: A parent or legal guardian must acknowledge this waiver on behalf of the minor at check-in. Minors may not compete without parental acknowledgment.
3. Photo & Video Release
VSYC-26 is a public competition held in a public venue. The event will be photographed and/or recorded by organizers and may also be captured by media, sponsors, attendees, and livestream operators.
By competing in or attending VSYC-26, you consent to being photographed and recorded, and you grant DMV Throwers and its designees a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use those images and recordings for contest documentation, promotion of future events, and general club communications (e.g., website, social media, press materials). No compensation is provided for this use.
Competitive freestyle performances on stage are recorded for judging purposes and may also be shared publicly as part of contest archives.
If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please notify an organizer at check-in. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the request, but cannot guarantee exclusion from all photography given the public nature of the venue and event.
4. Code of Conduct
VSYC-26 is a welcoming competition for players of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. All competitors, attendees, volunteers, and staff are expected to:
- Treat others with respect regardless of age, skill level, background, or identity.
- Refrain from harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or threatening behavior of any kind.
- Compete with integrity — no interference with other competitors' performances or equipment.
- Follow all instructions from contest staff and venue personnel.
- Keep the competition area and venue clean and safe for all participants.
- Yield the stage area and warm-up space as directed by contest staff.
Violations of this code of conduct may result in disqualification, removal from the venue, or a ban from future DMV Throwers events. The contest director's decisions are final.
To report a conduct issue during the event, speak directly with any contest staff member or email vastateyoyocontest@gmail.com.
5. Minor Participant Policy
VSYC-26 welcomes competitors and spectators of all ages. The following applies to participants under 18:
- Registration: Competitors under 18 must have registration submitted by a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these terms on the minor's behalf.
- Liability waiver: At check-in, a parent or guardian must be present or must have submitted written acknowledgment of the liability waiver (Section 2) before the minor may compete.
- Supervision: Minors attending as spectators should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The organizers are not responsible for unaccompanied minors.
- Photo release: The photo and video release in Section 3 applies to minor competitors. Parents or guardians who wish to restrict their child's appearance in event media should notify staff at check-in.
6. Event Cancellation or Force Majeure
If VSYC-26 is cancelled in its entirety due to circumstances beyond our control — including but not limited to severe weather, venue closure, public health emergencies, or natural disasters — competitors will receive a full refund of registration fees. Refunds will be processed within 30 days of the cancellation announcement.
If the event is significantly modified (e.g., reduced divisions, venue change) but not cancelled, organizers will communicate changes as early as possible and work with competitors on a case-by-case basis.
