Today’s Standard Setup
  • Bearing: C size (¼″ × ½″ × ⅜″), the main size for competition yo-yos. Centering (concave) designs like the KonKave keep the string in the middle of the bearing.[21][2][46]
  • Response: 19mm “Slim” silicone pads, the most common size, about 1–1.1mm thick, or flowable silicone in the groove.[8][44][14]
  • String: 100% polyester, now preferred over cotton. Neon yellow and white are the most popular colors.[14][53][34]
  • Lube: optional. A drop of thin lube keeps a bearing quiet and protected; it does not clean it.[14][50]
